Suspected ritualists butcher 14-yr-old girl to death in Jos, vital organs missing

The body of Maryam Salisu, a 14-year-old girl, has been discovered in a trench after she was butchered to death by suspected ritualists with her eyes and part of her body missing.

Her body was reportedly found on Saturday in Babale community, on the outskirts of Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.

The community was thrown into mourning over the weekend following the discovery of Maryam’s battered dead body by a suspected ritualist who harvested her eyes, breast, tooth and tongue.

Maryam got missing after she and Eleven other girls had gone to fetch firewood from a nearby bush where she was attacked while others ran for safety, according to AIT quoting a family member who confirmed the incident.

Aisha, a friend to Maryam who witnessed, the incident, gave her own account of what happened.

Maryam, has since been buried.

It is the fifth time such suspected ritual killing is taking place in Jos North within the last 10 Months, causing apprehension amongst residents.

Although the Plateau State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
