Tanker accident kills many in Niger

Many people have died in an accident that occurred between a tanker trailer carrying diesel and a trailer truck at Enagi in Edati Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to an eyewitness, the incident happened at around one o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday when the vehicles involved in the accident ignited a fire that led to burning of people and properties.
The source added that three corpses could be identified at the scene of the accident while several others were burnt beyond recognition as well as six motorcycles and three vehicles got burnt in the inferno.
A resident, Usman Baba Emigi said, “The trailer that caught fire was still burning by 5 pm and villagers could not do anything to put out the fire.
“Three shops were burnt.
” Rescue operation is still going on in the area.” He said.
