Tinubu commends Buhari’s fight against terrorism, vows to eradicate Boko Haram

President Bola Tinubu has promised that his administration will eradicate the remnants of Boko Haram, banditry, and kidnapping gangs in the country.

The president made the assurance in Abuja during the presentation of the book, “Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (2015-2023),” authored by Mr. Femi Adesina, who served as a Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Muhammad Buhari.

Tinubu reiterated that his administration will persist until every source of chaos is eradicated from the country.

“My government will eliminate the remaining vestiges of Boko Haram, banditry, and kidnapping gangs.

“We will not rest until every source of darkness is completely eradicated,” Tinubu affirmed.

Grateful for Adesina’s recounting of the challenging eight years of the Buhari administration, Tinubu acknowledged the difficult circumstances that the Buhari administration faced on assuming office, including economic recession and the territorial control of Boko Haram in the North-East.

“At a point, it appeared that even Abuja, the seat of government would fall into the hands of Boko Haram with the bombing of the United Nations (UN) Building, Banex Plaza, Nyanya and other locations.

“We cannot easily forget how our armed forces battled the Boko Haram terrorists under the leadership of Buhari to reclaim our territory and push them to the fringes of Lake Chad where they no longer pose existential threat to our sovereignty.

“I must say the job of securing every inch of our country is yet to be finished,” Tinubu said.

Reflecting on the achievements of the Buhari administration, Tinubu commended the efforts to combat Boko Haram and revitalise the economy despite significant challenges.

He praised Buhari’s initiatives, such as the completion of major infrastructural projects like the second Niger Bridge, the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, and the Abuja-Kaduna rail line, among others.

Tinubu affirmed his commitment to continuing the work started by President Buhari, addressing any outstanding challenges while striving to create a more prosperous and secure country.

“As I said during the campaigns, I inherited all his assets and liabilities.

“Our administration will continue to work from where President Buhari stopped, to make our country better, create a vibrant economy and secure the environment to bring more prosperity to our people,” he said.

The event was attended by notable personalities including former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, and a royal delegation from Saudi Arabia, led by Prince Abdulaziz Bin Faisal Al Saud.

Others are Alhaji Mohammed Indimi, Chairman of Oriental Energy Resources Limited who was the chief launcher, while the book reviewer was Shola Oshunkeye, CNN African Journalist of the year 2006.
