Tinubu must address the Nation on grave national security allegations – PDP Chieftain
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Fabiyi Oladimeji, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to personally address the nation regarding recent allegations made by Nigerien Military Head of State, Abdulrahamane Tchiani. The Nigerien leader accused the Tinubu administration of colluding with France to destabilise Niger Republic.
Fabiyi described the allegations as “weighty and sensitive” and stressed that they should not be ignored. He also highlighted another claim reportedly made by the United States, labelling President Tinubu as a “CIA asset.”
“These accusations are not just about Nigeria; they touch on the multinational security situation in West Africa,” Fabiyi said. “As a sovereign nation with a pivotal role in the sub-region, Nigeria must take these allegations seriously and respond at the highest level of government.”
Fabiyi criticised National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for allegedly downplaying the matter, stating that such an approach demonstrates a lack of understanding of global politics and national security. He emphasised that accusations of collusion with France to destabilise the sub-region should be thoroughly investigated to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
“These claims from the Head of State of a neighbouring country are alarming and must not be swept under the carpet,” Fabiyi said. “Only the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria can address these issues and reassure the nation.”
Fabiyi called on President Tinubu to immediately address Nigerians on these matters. He argued that such an address is crucial to safeguard Nigeria’s leadership role in the sub-region and maintain peace, stability, and bilateral relations with neighbouring countries.
“The President must speak directly to the people, clarify the allegations, and outline steps being taken to address these concerns,” Fabiyi concluded.
