Troops raid gunrunners’ hideout, recover weapons

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, have uncovered a suspected gunrunning hideout in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, recovering a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
The operation, conducted on November 13 by Sector 2 (Sub-Sector 2) personnel at Fashoron Village in the Daffo District, forced the suspects to flee moments before the troops arrived.
A thorough search of the location led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, a sub-machine gun, two Dane guns, 42 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 84 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 20 cartridges. Soldiers also recovered six mobile phones and ₦330,000 in cash.

The Media Information Officer of Operation Enduring Peace, Samson Zhakom, confirmed the raid in a statement on Friday.
“Troops of Sector 2 (Sub-Sector 2) Operation ENDURING PEACE Bokkos conducted a raid on suspected gunrunners’ hideout at Fashoron Village. The suspects fled before troops arrived,” he said.
Zhakom added that all recovered items are in military custody, and efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
He reiterated the task force’s resolve to stem the spread of illegal arms in the region, noting that the operation remains committed to using “all legitimate measures to rid the Joint Operations Area of criminal elements, particularly those involved in the proliferation of illicit weapons.”
