TY Danjuma inaugurates new skill acquisition centre in Yobe

The Chairman of the Victims Support Fund (VSF), Lt.-Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd), has officially opened a skill acquisition centre in Yobe State, as a key component of the organisation’s initiatives aimed at post-insurgency recovery.

In an exclusive interview with the Nigerian Tribune in Maiduguri, Danjuma highlighted that this centre is the first of nine to be established across three local government areas including Gujba, Gulani, and Fika.

The primary goal behind setting up this acquisition centre is to offer training opportunities in a variety of skills such as computer literacy, tailoring, electrical work, welding, and carpentry to unemployed youths, especially in light of the peace that has returned to the state.

Prof. Nana Tanko, the VSF Executive Director speaking on behalf of Danjuma, emphasised that these centres are intended to benefit not only women and youths but also other members of the community.

They are structured to enhance sustainability and economic progress in these regions.

It was further explained that VSF has been actively involved in supporting the Northeast region since 2014 through a range of interventions, which include providing educational resources, establishing savings and loans associations, and offering grants to women to expand their businesses.

The inauguration of the acquisition centre at Kukargadu signifies a new beginning for the beneficiaries and underscores VSF’s unwavering dedication to the restoration and advancement of the NorthEast region.
