Uba Sani renames Qur’anic Centre after Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi

Kaduna Governor Uba Sani has renamed the Centre for Qur’anic Science at Kaduna State University (KASU) after the late Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
The centre will now be known as the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Centre of Excellence for Qur’anic Sciences and Memorisation, in honour of the renowned cleric’s lifelong contributions to Islamic scholarship and education.
The announcement was made during the Maulid celebration of Fityanul Islam held in Zaria, Kaduna State, where the governor described Sheikh Bauchi as a symbol of knowledge, humility, and peaceful coexistence.
Governor Sani said the renaming fulfilled a promise he made to the family of the late scholar during a condolence visit following Sheikh Bauchi’s death in November 2025. He noted that the late cleric played a significant role in promoting Qur’anic learning and unity among Muslims across Nigeria.
The governor also disclosed plans to establish a foundation in the scholar’s name to promote inter-religious harmony and peaceful coexistence, values Sheikh Bauchi was widely known for.
Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was a highly respected Islamic scholar and a leading figure in the Tijaniyyah Sufi order, whose influence spanned decades of teaching, preaching, and community service.
The decision to immortalise him through the renaming of the centre has been widely welcomed by religious leaders and education stakeholders as a fitting tribute to his enduring legacy.
