Yobe gov’t donates 35 computers, declares 3 days work-free for PVC registration

Story from Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has declared 29 June to Friday, 1st July 2022 as work-free days to enable civil servants in the state to register for their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) ahead of the 2023 general election.

Neptune Prime has gathered that, apart from other logistics, the government has supplied 35 computers to the state’s local governments so as to facilitate the exercise.

According to a statement issued by the state Acting Head of Service, Alhaji Garba Bilal, Governor Buni said the work-free days will enable civil servants to travel to their respective Local Government Areas to register, re-validate, and collect their PVCs.

He said the free work days are because of the importance the state government attached to the voter’s cards exercise currently going on nationwide.

The statement urged the civil servants to reciprocate the good gesture by ensuring that they participate in the exercise.

Bilal advised all essential service providers to remain on alert during the period.

In a related development, the chairman of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YBSIEC), Dr Mamman Mohammed, who revealed to Neptune Prime that his commission which will coordinate the registration exercise, thanked the Yobe State Governor, Governor Buni, who he said has procured five computers for each of the 17 local government areas of the state for the registration exercise.

Dr Mamman assured that YBSIEC will utilise the three days holiday graciously given by the Governor for the registration to see that they involve traditional rulers, community leaders, market associations leaders, leaders of farming cooperatives, and opinion leaders to mobilise all eligible Yobe indigenes to register for their PVCs so that they can discharge their civic responsibilities.
