Yobe seeks stakeholders’ collaboration on SOLID Project
The Secretary to Yobe State Government, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, has said the success of Solution for Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities (SOLID) project will depend on the collective efforts, commitment and collaboration of all stakeholders.
Wali made this known in Damaturu during the SOLID project entry meeting with high-level Yobe state government officials and stakeholders.
He said the entry meeting for the SOLID Project in the state is a significant milestone in collective efforts to tackle the challenges faced by displaced persons and the communities that have so generously hosted them in the state.
He stated that the state remains committed on enhancing the protection of IDPs, and creating sustainable interventions to achieve a long-term development for the state.
The SSG said as leaders and partners, everyone has a role in shaping the future of the people most affected by protracted displacement.
He further revealed that, “We are determined to implementing programmes and policies that promote self-reliance and resilience, ensuring that both IDPs and host communities are not only beneficiaries but also active participants in their recovery and development journey.”
He commended Yobe state Governor Mai Mala Buni for his visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to improving the lives of the displaced persons and their host communities.
Giving an overview of the project, Yobe State SOLID Project Coordinator, Suleiman Dauda, said the project will contribute significantly to Yobe State’s development agenda, particularly in Local Government Areas affected by insurgency.
“The project will support sustainable community development through key components such as infrastructure development in critical sectors like roads, water, healthcare, agriculture, and education.
“Additionally, livelihood support initiatives including agriculture, entrepreneurship, and vocational skills, alongside human capital development in health, education, and youth empowerment are central to the project,” he said.
