Zamfara launches mass wedding for 400 orphans

The Zamfara Zakkat and Endowment Board has concluded plans to conduct a mass wedding for 200 orphans and empower an additional 200 others across the state.
This was announced in a statement released on Friday in Gusau by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Jamilu Sani.
According to the statement, the ceremony is scheduled for Monday, November 23, at the board’s headquarters in Gusau.
The Executive Secretary, Mallam Habibu Balarabe, said all beneficiaries had been screened and selected for the initiative.

He explained that beyond the mass wedding, 200 female orphans would receive capital to start small businesses after completing a three-week training in poultry farming and basic computer skills. Starter packs will also be distributed during the event.
Balarabe added that the board recently settled debts for 200 individuals in Shari’ah Courts and Correctional Centres, facilitating their release as part of its ongoing welfare programmes.
