Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the appointment of Colonel (rtd) A.A. Chiroma, an expert in Military Signals and Warfare as Special Adviser on Security.
Special Adviser to the governor on Public Relations and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau, who made the announcement, said Governor Zulum has also appointed 10 Senior and Special Assistants for specific functions, two of whom are to serve under the state’s deputy governor. All the appointments, except that of the adviser, are with immediate effect. They are as follows:
Col. (rtd) A. A. Chiroma, Special Adviser on Security; Alhaji Mustapha Ali, Senior Special Assistant on Security; Ali Abba Jato, Senior Special Assistant, Abuja Liaison Services; Mr. Christopher Godwin Akaba, Senior Special Assistant on Jobs Creation and Youths Empowerment and Sale Habib, Senior Special Assistant on Schedules and Events.
Others are Bukar Mustapha, Special Assistant on Documentation; Shuaibu Baba Adamu, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Deputy Governor; Alfred Yahaya Bwala, Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties to the Deputy Governor; Alhaji Mustapha Bulu, Senior Special Assistant (Public Financial Management); Yusuf Usman Shettima, Senior Special Assistant on Projects Monitoring & Evaluation and Abdullahi Yusuf, Special Assistant On Projects Documentation.
Retired Colonel Chiroma, son of one time Nigeria Labour Congress president, Comrade Ali Chiroma, graduated from Government College Maiduguri in 1983 where he was a Head Boy. He gained admission into Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, that year but left for the Nigeria Defence Academy in January 1984.
He passed out from the NDA in 1986 and has always been among the top five of his class, the 35th Regular Combatant Course.
A product of the Nigeria War College, Col. Chiroma (rtd), who was a onetime Defence Attache in Kenya, has been with the Nigerian Army’s Signal corp until his retirement in April 2015.
The spokesman revealed that Governor Zulum will soon approve a date for swearing-in of the Special Adviser while all other appointments take immediate effect.
