FG declares March 19, 20 public holidays for Eid-el-Fitr celebration
The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr, which signifies the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani, on Tuesday.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan and urged them to sustain the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance and sacrifice imbibed during the fasting period.
He also called on all Nigerians to use the festive season to pray for the country’s peace, unity and continued prosperity.
The minister further encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged in society.
He assured that the Federal Government remains committed to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.
