The Yobe State Executive Council has formally ratified nearly ₦60 billion in previously approved projects, with the lion’s share going to road construction and commercial development, according to a government briefing on Monday.
Deputy Governor Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, standing in for Governor Mai Mala Buni, presided over the council session, where the total sum of ₦ 59,845,482,013.90 was confirmed.
The funding covers a range of infrastructure, energy, and healthcare initiatives spread across the state.
Over half of the ratified amount, ₦34.1 billion is dedicated to roadworks, including the Kaliyari-Bayamari and Bayamari-Gaidam routes.
Another ₦8.58 billion will finance modern markets in Jajimaji and Buni-Yadi, while ₦5.35 billion is allocated for transport and energy projects, notably solar-powered streetlights in all 11 local government areas.
Healthcare infrastructure received ₦5.54 billion for generator installations at major hospitals, and the August 27 Stadium is set for a ₦3.35 billion upgrade.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, said the approved memoranda were designed to directly raise living standards across Yobe.
The council also stressed continued cooperation with security agencies and local communities. While acknowledging that relative peace has returned to much of the state, officials vowed to step up security intelligence to safeguard ongoing construction work.
The present administration in Yobe state under Governor Mai Mala Buni views the infrastructure drive as a pillar of long-term stability.
