Tragedy in Kano: 17-year-old loses life in pond drowning incident

Tragedy struck in Kano State’s Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area when 17-year-old Lurwanu Suleiman lost his life after drowning in open water at Dandalama village.

The Kano State Fire Service verified the incident through a statement released on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer.

According to the statement, the drowning occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

“We received an emergency call from Malam Aminu Dandalama at about 12:54 p.m. on Tuesday.

We immediately sent our rescue team to the scene at about 1:25 p.m.,” Abdullahi said.

He explained that Suleiman was recovered from the water lifeless and his body was handed over to the Ward Head of Dandalama village, Alhaji Safiyan Usman.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation, the agency said.
