Sequel to the over 400% increment of tuition fees of Kaduna State University by the state government, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, 75% of students of the university, both old and new may drop out of the institution if drastic action is not taken.
An investigation by Neptune Prime in the institution on Wednesday shows that about 75% of continuing and new students have indicated their interest through their departmental heads to secure transfer to other schools or leave the university completely because their parents are too poor to pay the new school fees.

Some of the students and their parents that spoke with our correspondent, Saleh Inuwa described Kaduna State Governor as wicked and heartless because during his time he enjoyed education at all level free, also he was quoted on many occasions as saying that under him Kaduna State student’s will enjoy free education but now reverse is the case.
Recently, Malam Nasir El-Rufai after sacking about 4,000 workers apart from the 4,000 teachers he sacked when he was new in office announced the increment of school fees of the higher institution under the Kaduna State government, some had their school fees from N24,000 to N150,000 while medical students are to pay N300,000 and above.
Similarly, about 19 lecturers from Kaduna State University were sacked recently by the governor on the ground that they participated in the strike staged recently in the state by NLC and at the time of this report they are yet to be called back.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Ministry of Education has issued a statement signed by Shehu Usman Muhammad commissioner of education denied that the governor has reintroduced school fees in primary and post-primary education in the state.
The state government according to the commissioner is disturbed by those spreading rumour in the state that the state government has reintroduced school fees in primary and secondary school, this he said is not untrue but the state government policy of free education from primary, junior secondary schools and senior secondary schools remain.
