Court orders fresh trial of Kano governorship aspirant

Kano State governorship aspirant, Abdulsalam Abdulkarim Zaura (A.A Zaura) will have to undergo another court trial over allegations of fraud.
The court sitting in Kano on Wednesday set aside the judgment of the Federal High Court, Kano that discharged and acquitted A.A Zaura. In an earlier judgment, the EFCC had prosecuted Zaura on a 5 count charge before the Federal High Court sitting in Kano.

EFCC accused him of defrauding a Kuwaiti National by obtaining the sum of $1,320,000 million under the pretest that he is in the business of building properties in Dubai, Kuwaiti and Arab Countries. On the 9th of June 2020, Justice Lewis Allagoa found the defendant not guilty and discharged him.
EFCC appealed the judgment, and now the court of appeal, in a unanimous decision by 3 judges led by Justice Abdullahi M. Bayero set aside the earlier judgment and ruled that A.A Zaura should be tried by a new set of judges. A.A Zaura is the governorship candidate of Ganduje before the powerful Kano first lady endorsed Commander Sule Garo.
