Kuje Prison escapee fleeing to Maiduguri nabbed with drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested an inmate, Suleiman Sidi, who escaped during the Kuje Prison attack in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to a statement by the NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, Sidi was arrested in the early hours of Monday at the Area 1 motor park in Abuja while attempting to board a commercial vehicle to Maiduguri, Borno State.

Upon search by NDLEA operatives, he was caught with wraps of cannabis sativa.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect confirmed to being an inmate at the Medium Security Correctional Centre in Kuje before he escaped.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd) has directed that Sidi be transferred to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

Sidi is facing charges bordering on terrorism and robbery.
