Yobe gov’t approves construction of 9 roads, calls for bidders

Yobe State Government has approved the construction of nine roads covering 74.5km to improve transportation and delivery of goods and services across the state.

This was disclosed by Mamman Mohammed DG, Press and Media Affairs to Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni.

According to Mohammed, a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works, Abdullahi Musa Shehu, said the ministry had already published a tender for bidding on the projects.

“The Ministry, therefore, invites all experienced and competent bidders/vendors with relevant experience to submit Technical and Financial Bids for the projects.

“The projects include a 22.5km asphalt road from Fika -Maluri, 18km asphalt road from Bukarti-Toshia, 13km asphalt road from Jajimaji-Karasuwa and 4km asphalt road from Nguru Highway-Karasuwa Galu.

“Others include the construction of 5Km asphalt roads with 10km of concrete drains in Damaturu, 3Km asphalt roads with 6km of concrete drains in Potiskum, and 3Km asphalt roads with 6km of concrete drains in Nguru.

“Similarly, the government would construct 3Km asphalt road with 6km concrete drains in Gashua, and 3Km asphalt road with 6km concrete drains in Geidam,” the statement said.

The Permanent Secretary said only competent contractors with the requisite qualification as certified by the Bureau for Public Procurement will be considered.

He expressed the commitment of the Buni administration to open up more communities with good roads to enhance the socio-economic development of the benefitting communities.
