Buni approves ₦398m for Ramadan feeding, tafsir programmes
Mai Mala Buni, Governor of Yobe State, has approved the sum of ₦398 million for the 2026 Ramadan feeding and Tafsir programme aimed at supporting vulnerable residents across the state during the holy month.
The approval covers the expansion of feeding centres and welfare packages to ensure that fasting Muslims, particularly the less privileged, receive daily Iftar meals throughout Ramadan.
According to state officials, the number of feeding centres has been increased from 101 last year to 130 centres, spread across the 17 local government areas of the state. Each centre is expected to provide meals to about 100 beneficiaries daily.

A breakdown of the allocation shows that ₦338 million has been earmarked for the purchase of rams and other food items, while ₦60 million will cater for allowances for Islamic clerics conducting Tafsir sessions during the fasting period.
Additionally, thousands of bags of rice and hundreds of jerrycans of cooking oil have been approved for distribution to support the programme’s implementation.
Officials of the Yobe State Government described the initiative as part of ongoing efforts to cushion the impact of economic hardship on residents and to promote spiritual engagement during Ramadan.

The Ramadan feeding programme has become an annual intervention under Governor Buni’s administration, aimed at fostering community solidarity and providing relief to vulnerable households across the state.
