University of Ibadan collaborates with Tanzanian varsity on teaching of Kiswahili language
The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) and the University of Ibadan (UI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the teaching of Kiswahili language.
APO Group news report that the symbolic virtual signing of the document was facilitated by the High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H. E. Dr. Benson Alfred Bana.
The Vice-Chancellors of both UI and UDSM applaud the collaboration as the MoU is expected to deliver among other things, the introduction of Kiswahili to the University programme curriculum, and the development of joint research activities.
Others are the exchange of undergraduate and postgraduate students; the exchange of staff on a sabbatical basis; mutual assistance in the establishment of new programmes; exchange of information and publications; and organisation of seminars, colloquia, symposia, conferences, and workshops.
Dar es Salaam (UDSM) and the University of Ibadan (UI) are the oldest and leading public universities in Nigeria and Tanzania respectively.
