Family feud turns deadly as coach allegedly kills brother-in-law

A middle-aged man identified as Mr Scott Eguabor has allegedly killed his brother-in-law, Mr Sunday Okoro with a punch in an attempt to settle a marital quarrel between his immediate younger sister and her husband.

Reports have it that the incident happened on March 19, at Erie Street, off Sokponba Road in the Oredo Local Government Area of the state.

Eguabor, a Coach in charge of Boxing in Edo State Ministry of Sports and head of Edo State Security Network in Erie and its environs, was said to have responded to an invitation by his younger sister to settle a quarrel in his in-law’s house when he allegedly gave the deceased a heavy punch on his face.

It was learnt that the deceased went to Esigie Police Division to report the matter and was advised by the police on duty to go for treatment at the hospital.

It was further gathered that the deceased already bleeding walked back to his in-law’s house in First Erie Lane and demanded the whereabouts of Eguabor to take him for treatment without the police.

It was gathered that the deceased allegedly slumped while the suspect on sensing danger, fled immediately.

It was also learnt that some persons rushed the deceased to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

When contacted, the state police command Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor, said he was not aware of the incident and promised to issue a statement as soon as he confirmed the report.
