Police arrest 2 men for impersonating NDLEA personnel in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two men for impersonating the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) personnel in Kala’a community of Hong Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Yola.

He said police recovered exhibits from the suspects which include two pump actions, 11 live cartridges, handcuffs, leg chains, and jackets among others.

“Adamawa State Police Command has on April 2nd apprehended a syndicate of two impersonating personnel of NDLEA at Balkari Village, Hong local government area.

“The suspects are Abdulrazaq Bindow, 29 years old, and Ismaila Alim, 27 years a resident of Maiha were said to have at the early hours of Sunday armed themselves with guns and invaded the village, wearing NDLEA jackets making the villagers believe them as personnel of the agency.

“The suspects apprehended and handcuffed one Amos Daniel, Kwada Fitagu, and Gambo Zira before the villagers raised alarm and alerted the police who immediately responded and effected their arrest”, he stated.

According to Nguroje, preliminary investigation so far reveals that the suspects were members of the Hunters Association Adamawa State Chapter.

The spokesman said the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the investigation and ensure all their collaborators are traced, arrested, and prosecuted.
