Court restrains Gombe Football Association from holding election

Story from Najibullahi ADAMU, Gombe

A Gombe State Chief District Court 10 has restrained the State Football Association (FA) from holding its planned election.

The election which was scheduled to hold soon was meant to elect new officials of the association in the state.

However, the court stopped the process after receiving a petition and application for an order to stop the election from a member of Gombe State Sports and Football Stakeholders Forum Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu Gara over allegations of lack of fairness in the process.

The chief district of the court Dalhatu Mohammed Musa who gave the order said the election should not be conducted until the determination of the motion filed by the applicant.

“Having heard the submission of the learned counsel to the applicant Ibrahim Ambore Nuhu Esq, as contained on the motion exparte supporting affidavit (i.e 10 paragraphs), the court hereby grant the application and order the respondents, their privies, servants to restrain from any form of FA election until the determination of the motion on notice filed by the applicant”. The court order reads.

The court also adjourned the case to 14th June, 2023 for the hearing of the motion.
