Over 1,200 victims of human trafficking rescued in Katsina between 2022, 2023

Not fewer than 1,200 victims of human trafficking have been rescued in Katsina State between the years 2022 and 2023, according to Musa Aliyu, the State Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

He made this disclosure during a medical outreach program organized for the victims of human trafficking under the framework of the Niger-Nigeria Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Project held at Modoji GRA in Katsina state.

Aliyu explained that the rescued victims, including men, women, and children, were saved between last year and now.

Additionally, about 10 suspected human traffickers were arrested and convicted by the state command.

The commander further called on the good people of the state not to hesitate to directly report issues related to human trafficking, child abuse, child labor, and other related abuses to the office of the command.

The program, which was put together by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) with support from the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), covered at least 80 victims of human trafficking in Katsina State.

The beneficiaries of the program, mostly women and their children, were enlightened and attended to by a team of medical doctors deployed from various hospitals across the state.
