Customs Service promotes 357 junior officers

The management of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has granted approval for the promotion of 357 personnel, spanning from Customs Assistant I (CAI) to Inspector of Customs (IC).

This pivotal decision, sanctioned during the 7th Management meeting of 2023 under the leadership of Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adeniyi MFR on December 1, 2023, signifies a substantial development within the service.

According to a statement by the Chief Superintendent of Customs, NPRO, Abdullahi Maiwada, the promotion list, covering both General Duty (GD) and Support Staff (SS) personnel who demonstrated excellence in the 2023 promotion exercise, includes 246 promotions from AIC to IC (GD), 37 from AIC to IC (SS), 39 from CAI to AIC (GD), 27 from CAI to AIC (SS), 7 from CAII to CAI (SS), and 1 from CAIII to CAII (GD).

 

This strategic move reflects the forward-thinking leadership of the Comptroller-General, highlighting the commitment to motivation, recognition of excellence, and rewarding diligence within the service.

In his congratulatory message, the Comptroller-General urges the newly promoted officers to intensify their efforts in fulfilling the service’s core mandates of Revenue Generation, Suppression of Smuggling, and Trade Facilitation.
