Terrorists strike again in Nasarawa, abduct Akwanga LG chairman

Gunmen have kidnapped the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Safiyanu Isa Andaha.

According to reports, the victim was abducted on Monday night at Ningo village along Andaha – Akwanga Road, alongside a native of the area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, security personnel comprising the police and other agencies have swiftly begun the trail of the abductors to ensure the release of the victims.

This is coming few days after the State Police Command rescued a lecturer of Microbiology at the Nasarawa State University in Keffi, Isaac Igbawua, who was kidnapped from his residence along Old Barracks, Kokona Local Government Area on December 27, 2023.

The lecturer was later rescued by the police in collaboration with vigilante members from a forest at Ogba village, Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state on December 28.

Days after Igbawua’s abduction, police arrested a student of the Federal University Lafia, Daniel Favour Chukwuebuka, and allegedly recovered arms and ammunition from his residence.
