Musa Mustapha emerges APC senatorial candidate for Yobe East bye-election

Musa Mustapha popularly known as (Coolers) has emerged candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Yobe East Senatorial bye-election on February 3, 2024 declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Musa’s emergence followed the vacancy created in Yobe East Senatorial seat by the resignation of Senator Ibrahim Geidam who is now Minister of Police Affairs.

A total of three hundred and seventy (370) delegates converged on August 27 at the Stadium in Damaturu to select the best candidate that would run for the seat under the Platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer of the primary election, Yobe East Senatorial district, Ibrahim Kabir Masari said the contest which was between Musa Mustapha and Salisu Sanda saw the emergence of Alhaji Musa Mustapha who scored a total of 356 votes while his opponent Salisu Sanda got zero vote.

 

Voting process

 

In his acceptance speech shortly after the announcement of the result, the new candidate, Alhaji Musa Mustapha popularly known as Musa Coolers expressed joy over the landslide victory in the primary elections.

“The election has proved to the world that Yobe is a home of democracy”, said Musa Mustapha.

On his part, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka described the primary election as transparent, peaceful and credible.

Governor Mai Mala Buni, Speaker of Yobe State House of Assembly Chiroma A Buba Mashio, members of both the State and National Assemblies, among other top APC stalwarts attended the election venue.
