Fake soldier confesses to buying military uniform, I.D card for N15,000

A fake military officer, Muhammed Auwalu, has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Ogun State with identification card and military uniform.
During interrogation, Auwalu revealed that a man called Umaru, living in the Ojodu-Berger Area of Lagos, sold him the military uniform for N10,000 and identity card for N5,000.
Auwalu was arrested by men of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team of the Ogere Police Division during a patrol at the location.
When asked if he could contact Umaru, who sold the costume to him, Auwalu said that there was no way Umaru could be reached because he was already dead.
Upon arrest, the security operatives collected the fake military uniform and identity card from Auwalu.
It was reported that the Ogun Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest of the impersonator, and she said an investigation is ongoing.
She said, “The military imposter was intercepted by SWAT operatives during a patrol within Ogere Area. A discreet investigation is ongoing.”
