Sokoto Gov’t dismisses Muric’s claims about Sultan’s removal

Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State stated that his relationship with the Sultanate Council remains friendly and advised the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) and Vice President Kassim Shettima to disregard mischievous groups.

This was outlined in a statement issued by Aliyu’s spokesperson, Malam Abubakar Bawa, on Tuesday in Sokoto.

He dismissed MURIC’s claims about a plot by the state government to depose the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, as groundless and baseless.

Aliyu described it as an effort by troublemakers and enemies of progress to create falsehoods and generate fear among law-abiding citizens.

Aliyu assured MURIC that his administration, like previous ones, respects and values the Sultanate Council which has a rich historical significance to all residents of Sokoto State.

He emphasised the administration’s amicable relationship with the Sultanate Council under the leadership of Sultan Abubakar.

The governor highlighted that his government consults with the Sultan on matters affecting the state and values his contributions to policy implementation.

Aliyu also justified the dismissal and reassignment of some District Heads by stating that it was due to misconduct displayed by those traditional rulers.
