Senator Gaidam extends condolences to FUGA fire victims

In the wake of the devastating fire incident at Federal University Gashua (FUGA), the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator (Dr) Ibrahim Gaidam CON, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families.

The fire, which claimed the life of a female student, has been described by Senator Gaidam as “one fire too many damages”.

His Excellency Senator Gaidam, in a statement released by his Special Assistant, conveyed his profound sadness and shock upon learning of the tragic fire outbreak at the Federal University located in his home state of Yobe.

He empathized with the entire student body, the government, and the people of Yobe State, acknowledging the immense loss suffered by all affected.

“I commiserate with the entire students of FUGA, Government, and people of Yobe State on this unfortunate incident,” Senator Gaidam expressed.

He offered prayers for strength and fortitude to be granted to those grappling with the aftermath of the tragedy, beseeching the Almighty to provide solace and support during this difficult time.

Reflecting on the recurring incidents of fire outbreaks in educational institutions, Senator Gaidam emphasized the need for a collective and comprehensive approach to fire risk management.

“The frequency and intensity of fire incidence across our higher institutions of learning, as well as the impact on lives, tells us that implementing fire risk management requires collective effort and a holistic approach,” Senator Gaidam stated.

He urged relevant authorities to maintain effective coordination in ensuring that all stakeholders utilize their resources efficiently to prevent, mitigate, and respond to fire disasters effectively.

In closing, Senator Gaidam offered prayers for the departed soul of the deceased student and urged her family, the school community, and relatives to find solace amidst the irreparable loss.
