Fire guts Lagos airport old terminal, no one hurt, says FAAN
A fire outbreak has affected a section of the old terminal at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, with authorities confirming that no casualties were recorded.
The incident, which occurred within the old terminal wing of the airport, was swiftly contained by emergency response teams. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) assured the public that the situation was brought under control before it could escalate or disrupt broader airport operations.
In a statement, FAAN officials said firefighters and other emergency personnel were immediately deployed to the scene upon detection of the blaze. Their prompt intervention prevented injuries and minimised damage to critical infrastructure.

Passengers and airport workers in the vicinity were safely evacuated as a precautionary measure, while operations in unaffected sections of the airport continued under close monitoring.
FAAN reiterated its commitment to safety and security across all airport facilities and disclosed that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
The authority urged travellers and members of the public to remain calm, assuring them that necessary steps are being taken to prevent a recurrence.
