Fire destroys 8 shade structures, cars in Kano

In a devastating incident, a fire engulfed eight temporary shade structures and eight cars along Lawan Dambazau road near the rail line in Kano Municipality, according to the Kano State Fire Service.

The spokesperson of the service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the fire erupted around 02:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

“We received a distress call around 02:15 a.m. from the patrol and guard at Kwalli Police Division reporting a fire outbreak at Lawan Dambazau road,” Abdullahi stated.

He further explained, “We promptly mobilized our personnel to the scene, arriving at about 02:19 a.m. Our swift response helped contain the fire and prevented it from spreading to adjacent structures.”

Abdullahi disclosed that the affected area was an unfinished building measuring approximately 300 by 150 feet, where carpentry and car repair activities were underway.

He revealed, “The fire consumed eight shades containing carpentry equipment and eight cars, while one shade and one car suffered minor damage.”

Fortunately, there were no casualties reported, and Abdullahi attributed the cause of the fire to an electrical spark originating from one of the carpenter’s shades.
