Ronaldo sets new scoring record in Saudi Pro League
Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo made history by setting a new record for the most goals scored in a single season of the Saudi Pro League.
In Al Nassr’s final game of the season, Ronaldo netted twice, bringing his total tally to 35 goals, surpassing the previous record of 34 held by Abderrazak Hamdallah.
After the game, Ronaldo took to Twitter, stating, “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me.”
The 39-year-old star scored just before halftime and added another goal in the 69th minute with a powerful header, contributing to Al Nassr’s 4-2 victory over Al Ittihad.
Despite finishing as runners-up, Al Nassr secured a second-place finish in the league, trailing behind champions Al Hilal by 14 points.
Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in December 2022, marking the beginning of an influx of international talent into the Saudi league with lucrative contracts.
With a decorated international career, Ronaldo has been selected to represent Portugal in the upcoming Euro 2023 tournament in Germany, marking his 11th international championship.
With a record-breaking 206 international appearances and 128 goals to his name, he continues to make his mark on the global soccer stage.
