Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Zamfara settles medical bills of injured soldiers

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has pledged to cover the medical expenses of soldiers who were injured while combatting insecurity in the state.

Speaking at the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Gusau, Governor Lawal emphasised the significance of the event, especially during a time when security challenges have negatively impacted the state’s economic growth.

The governor, represented by Deputy Governor Malam Mani Mummune, expressed deep concern over the fear and uncertainty created by bandits in various communities across the state.

He urged the troops to bravely confront any attacks by these criminals.

Emphasising the importance of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Governor Lawal highlighted the opportunity it provides for Nigerians to support veterans who are unable to earn a living and to unite in safeguarding the country’s unity.

“The occasion is also a reminder for Nigerians to safeguard the unity of the country,” he said.

He appealed to the people of Zamfara to stand by the government in the fight against banditry and other activities that disrupt peace.

Ladan Aminu, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion in the state, called on the government to assist the veterans and families of fallen heroes, while also urging the Armed Forces to continue their efforts in combating insecurity nationwide.
