President Tinubu, Gov. Buni mourn passing of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim
President Bola Tinubu and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni have mourned the passing of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, former governor of Yobe State and Senator representing Yobe East.
In a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), President Tinubu extended his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the family, friends, and associates of the late Senator and the government and people of Yobe State.
”Former Governor Ibrahim was a personal friend and a consummate leader who served the people of Yobe with dedication during his extensive political career.
”As a senator for 12 years, his wealth of experience was a guiding force in the National Assembly. Generations to come will remember him for always placing the progress and welfare of the people at the heart of his service,” the President says.
President Tinubu prays that Almighty God grant the departed statesman eternal rest.

Similarly, Governor Buni in a statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, DG, Press, and Media Affairs to Yobe Governor, described the death of Senator Ibrahim as a huge loss to the government and people of the state.
The Governor directed all other aspects of the late Senator’s funeral and condolences to be taken over by the state government to accord the late governor a state burial and honour.
Condolences are to be received by Governor Mai Mala Buni at the Government House Mosque (Masjid), Damaturu.
The statement reads in part, “Inna lillahi wa ina ilaihi Rajiun!
“This is a huge loss for us at this time, but that is the wish of Allah, our creator, May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and admit him into Aljannatu Firdaus,” Governor Buni prayed.
The Governor called on the people and friends of Yobe State to join his family, the government, and the people of the state to pray for the repose of the soul of the former governor.
Neptune Prime reports that Bukar Abba Ibrahim, a former governor of Yobe State, and Senator representing Yobe East, died at the age of 74 after a protracted illness at Saudi-German Hospital in Mecca.
Late Bukar Abba was the governor of Yobe State from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007 and from January 1992 to November 1993.
He was elected to the Senate for the Yobe East constituency in 2007 and won his re-election bid in April 2011.
