Police declare popular Bauchi Islamic cleric wanted over contempt of court

An Islamic cleric in Bauchi State, Dr. Idris Abdul’azeez Dutsen Tanshi, has been declared wanted by the Bauchi State Police Command over alleged contempt of court.
The declaration of Dr Idris Abdul’azeez Dutsen Tanshi was contained in a special gazette bulletin issued on the order of the Inspector-General of Police on Thursday and distributed to reporters by the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO Bauchi State, SP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil.
The bulletin urged anyone with information about the whereabouts of the cleric to report to the Bauchi State Police Command or any nearest police station or call 08151849417, or 09048226246.

“A handsome reward” awaits any person(s) with information leading to Dutsen Tanshi’s arrest”, the bulletin added.
It can be recalled that an Upper Shari’a Court 1 sitting in Bauchi metropolis had issued a bench warrant against the renowned Islamic cleric following his refusal to appear before the court to continue his trial in a case of alleged incitement of public disturbance levelled against him.”
