Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR of the Nigeria Customs Service has affirmed his dedication to enhancing the welfare of customs personnel nationwide through a housing initiative.
Speaking during the launch event at Gidan Iyali Estate, Millennium City, Kaduna, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, CGC Adeniyi stated, “This ceremony is not the last episode of what we have planned. There are projects similar to this in Kano, Asaba, Yola, Abuja, Enugu, and Uyo ready for flag-off, aiming to provide officers and men of the service with a pocket-friendly and conveniently located housing solution.”

Recalling a similar project kick-off on December 18, 2023, in Ibadan, where 5000 houses were initiated for serving officers and men of the NCS, Adeniyi emphasized the importance of addressing the housing needs of retiring personnel.
He expressed hope that this initiative would put an end to past challenges faced by some officers.
Highlighting the initiative’s alignment with President Tinubu’s efforts to provide affordable housing to Nigerians, Adeniyi praised Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna for unwavering support.
He encouraged officers interested in the projects not to relent, announcing an interface with Cooperative Mortgage Bank to manage housing scheme payments effectively.
Addressing the audience, George Anih, Portfolio and Assets Manager of Family Homes, reaffirmed his firm’s commitment to providing affordable shelters, pledging to partner with the Nigeria Customs Service to deliver 5000 houses for its officers and men.
Musa Abubakar, Managing Director of Cooperative Mortgage Bank, assured the CGC of his commitment to the successful completion of the project.
