Gunmen abduct Kogi LG caretaker committee chairman, aides

Unknown gunmen have reportedly kidnapped the caretaker committee Chairman of Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Zacheous Michael, along with some of his aides. The abduction occurred on Friday night along the Kabba/Okene road.

The Police Public Relations Officer, William Ayah, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, has deployed officers for a search and rescue mission. Ayah assured that the command would leave no stone unturned in ensuring their safe return. There has been no information regarding any ransom demands.

Inside sources suggest the abduction may be linked to the upcoming council election on October 19, as Michael was adopted as the sole candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Kabba local government. Others believe his crackdown on kidnappers in his local government since assuming office might be a motive.
