Saka shines as Arsenal defeats Wolves 2-0 in Premier League opener
Arsenal kicked off their Premier League campaign with a strong performance, defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 on August 17, 2024, thanks to a standout display by Bukayo Saka.
The match, held at the Emirates Stadium, saw Germany forward Kai Havertz open the scoring in the first half with an assist from Saka.
Saka added a spectacular second goal after the break, showcasing his skill and cementing his role as a key player for Arsenal.
“Bukayo had an unbelievable action to score the 2-0,” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said, drawing comparisons to legendary players like Lionel Messi.
Arteta praised his team’s aggressive start, despite some sloppiness in the second half. “We generated a lot.
We probably should have scored two or three,” he noted. The victory provides a positive start for Arsenal, who finished as runners-up last season and are determined to challenge Manchester City’s dominance.

The Gunners’ preparation for the season included an unconventional training method; Arteta had hired professional pickpockets to teach his squad a lesson in vigilance.
While Arteta has yet to sign a high-profile striker, his side’s performance against Wolves indicates they are ready for the challenges ahead.
Arsenal dominated the match, with early chances from Ben White and Saka forcing Wolves’ goalkeeper Jose Sa into action. Havertz’s header in the 25th minute put Arsenal ahead, and Saka’s powerful strike in the 74th minute sealed the win.
