The traditional ruler of Gatawa in Sokoto state, Alhaji Isa Muhammed Bawa has been killed by the bandits who had held him captive for five weeks.
Confirming the incident in Sabon Birni, a former member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Saidu Gwanda Gobir stated that the First class monarch was shot dead at about 4.00pm on Tuesday in the forest enclave of his captors.
According to Gwanda Gobir, the bandits said the execution of the respected Royal father was a result of the failure of his relatives or the government to pay up the ransom on him after the expiration of the ultimatum of one month and a grace of six days given by them.
The former national legislator said the execution of Alhaji Isa Muhammed Bawa took place moments when the delegation conveying the ransoms was about reaching out to the bandits through an agreed chanel.
He also disclosed that the bandits have said that they will not release corpse of the deceased monarch and will also go ahead to kill his son who is also in their custody, unless the entire amount of the ransom initially demanded was paid to them.
