Gov. Buni discusses strategies to improve security in Yobe

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has chaired a security council meeting with heads of security agencies in the state. The meeting was also attended by the Emir of Fika and chairman council of traditional rulers, Alhaji Muhammadu Ibn Abali Muhammadu Idrissa.

The security council meeting took place at the Council Chambers of Government House Damaturu.

Shortly after the meeting, Adviser to Governor Buni on security matters, Brig. General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), briefed journalists on the outcome.

He said the meeting discussed entensively the recent security breaches recorded in Mafa, Buni-Yadi and Geidam, where the council finalised all the issues, looked at the outcome of the security breaches and adopted measures.

General Abdulsalam stated that the security agencies have also been urged and directed to redouble their efforts and strategies to ensure that there is peace, security, and stability within the state.

“Governor Buni paid a visit to the Chief of Defence Staff after the incident of Mafa where he discussed the security issues affecting Yobe State.

“He has been assured of the full support of the Nigerian Armed Forces, both land and air component and on his way also to visit head of other security agencies in the country for improved synergy and cooperation within the state,” said Yobe Security Adviser.

He revealed that the importance of security in the state needs no other emphasis, and it affects everybody as people have been on the issue for a very long time.

“Thankfully, the situation has stabilised except for the few unfortunate occurrences.”

He urged the media in the state to always put forward accurate information and avoid sectionalism, adding that he is always available to clarify issues when the need arises in the state.
