Joshua-Dubois rematch off the table as Dubois eyes February return

In a surprising twist, the highly anticipated rematch between IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua has been called off. Frank Warren, Dubois’ promoter, confirmed the decision, citing a mismatch in timelines as a key factor. After Dubois’ victory over Joshua in September, there was talk of a second bout, with Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, expressing hope for another face-off.

However, while Joshua continues to recover from injuries sustained in their first encounter, Dubois is already preparing for a February 22 fight. Warren emphasized the importance of keeping Dubois active, saying, “We’re focused on Daniel and his next fight.” He hinted at a possible clash with another ranked opponent, ensuring that Dubois remains on track for his title defenses.

IBF President Daryl Peoples recently affirmed Dubois’ right to make an optional title defense, opening doors for potential domestic bouts early next year. As fans adjust to the news, it’s clear that both fighters have their sights set on different timelines — at least for now.
