Atalanta beat Udinese to move level with serie A leaders Napoli

Atalanta continued their unlikely Serie A title bid on Sunday, coming from behind to beat Udinese 2-1, moving level on points with league leaders Napoli. The victory marks their sixth consecutive win in the league.

Mario Pasalic equalised for Atalanta early in the second half, and an own goal by Isaak Toure shortly after gave them the lead. Atalanta now sit in second place, tied on 25 points with Napoli, who face Inter Milan later on Sunday.

Despite having a better goal difference, Atalanta trail Napoli due to playing one game more, and they cannot finish the day at the top of the table. Inter, in third, are just one point behind, meaning either Napoli or Inter will lead the standings by Sunday night.

Under coach Gian Piero Gasperini, Atalanta have gone unbeaten in their last 10 matches across all competitions, with eight victories, establishing themselves as genuine contenders for their first-ever Serie A title.

After Udinese’s impressive first-half performance, they took the lead with a powerful strike from Hassane Kamara right before the break. However, the team couldn’t hold on, suffering their third consecutive loss and remaining in eighth place with 16 points.

In other Serie A news, Fiorentina and Lazio have the opportunity to level with Atalanta in their upcoming matches, while Roma’s ongoing crisis continues as coach Ivan Juric faces the prospect of being sacked.
