Police uncover gun factory owned by father-son, arrest suspected child trafficker
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has uncovered a gun-making factory allegedly run by a father and his sons, where illegal firearms were manufactured and sold to criminals within the state and beyond.
During a press conference at the Command Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia on Monday, State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph O. Eribo, disclosed that the operation was made possible through credible intelligence. Swift action by police operatives led to a raid at the site, resulting in the arrest of one suspect, David Nse Emmanuel.
However, his father, Akpan Nse Emmanuel, and other relatives associated with the illicit operation managed to evade arrest.

Seized during the raid were seven newly fabricated single-barrel guns, five double-barrel guns, a specialized steel double-trigger pistol, a broken single-barrel gun, a trigger-handle walking stick knife, and multiple cut iron pipes intended for gun barrel construction.
CP Eribo assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and identify individuals who may have purchased firearms from their operation.
In an unrelated but equally alarming incident, police apprehended a suspected child trafficker named Promise Boniface in Obio Ibiono after he abducted five children from the same family.
Thankfully, the children were safely rescued and reunited with their relieved parents. The motorcycle used by the suspect during the crime was also recovered following a distress call received on November 14, 2024, from a mother whose children had been taken.
Local villagers aided the police in chasing down the suspect, ensuring the children’s safe return.
Additionally, in a separate operation on October 25, 2024, authorities uncovered a black Toyota Corolla suspected to be stolen.
The suspect, 38-year-old Kingsley Ernest Nelson, confessed to a series of car thefts dating back to 2017. Police successfully recovered several stolen vehicles, including a Toyota Sienna, a Toyota Rav4, and a multitude of counterfeit car documents.
