City Cancer Challenge Initiative unites CSOs, health practitioners to improve patient support

City Cancer Challenge Initiative has taken a step forward for fight against cancer. They aimed at improving access to quality cancer care, getting statistics, and making comprehensive, detailed documentation on cancer patients in the city.

A briefing session was recently held at MedicAid Foundation, Utako, to introduce Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to the goals and expectations of the initiative.

During the meeting, the organiser Dr. Chris outlined the program’s dual-format structure, combining both online and offline engagements over three months. Participants, including selected health practitioners and CSO representatives, were briefed on their roles and the collaborative process.

Health Practitioners are tasked with conducting interviews with cancer patients to gather critical data, while CSOs are expected to identify and bring forward patients from their communities, particularly those residing or receiving treatment in Abuja. This participatory approach ensures inclusivity and representation from various sectors of society.

The program aims to build a strong network of advocates and medical professionals, laying the groundwork for long-term solutions to the challenges faced by cancer patients in the region.

This initiative reflects a commitment to fostering partnerships and harnessing collective efforts in the fight against cancer.
