Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has pledged to assent the bill for the establishment of Agency for Persons Living with Disability in the state.
The Governor gave the assurance in his office in Damaturu when he received APC Zonal Doable Leader Northeast, Mohammed Abba Isa.
According to Governor Buni, the establishment of the Agency will go a long way in improving the livelihood of the disabled as well as other vulnerable groups in society.
In his vote of thanks, Mohammed Abba Isa commended the Governor for carrying everybody along irrespective of any physical disability.
“Today I had the rare privilege and opportunity to meet with my leader, my mentor, the master of inclusion, the digital and intellectually mobile Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Mai Mala Buni.
“The meeting which held at his Excellency’s office enabled us to discuss issues bordering welfare of Persons Living With Disability. As a leader of persons with disabilities in the state and the entire zone at large, I shared with his Excellency the eminent concerns of the community with specific interest on Yobe state persons with disability bill which has just passed the second reading at State House of Assembly”.
“On other social protection intervention and humanitarian service, I convey to his Excellency the gratitude and appreciation of persons with disabilities in the state for considering them at every stage of distribution”.
“Whenever the bill is signed, disabled persons shall be guaranteed treatment as equals to other Nigerians for all purposes in the state. Accordingly, it shall be the duty and responsibility of organs of government and of all authorities and persons to adopt and promote policies that will ensure full integration of the disabled into the mainstream of the society.”
“The Government shall ensure within the context of economic, political and social idea and objectives to Nigerians that Disabled persons are fully integrated into the state economy. Disabled persons shall have equal rights, privileges, obligations and opportunities before the law, Disabled persons are provided equal and adequate education among other benefits, Abba said.
