ITN Card distribution records huge success in Gulani – Malaria Consortium representative
The Malaria Consortium Representative in Gulani Local Government Area, Mr. Ahmadu Audu, has commended the tremendous success recorded in the ongoing distribution of Insecticide Treated Net (ITN) token cards across the area.
Speaking to YBC News, Mr. Audu said the exercise has been going on as planned, with massive turnout and full compliance from households in all communities of the local government.
He explained that the distribution teams have been visiting residents house-to-house, issuing token cards and sensitizing families on the importance of using ITNs and participating in the Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) programme.

“Our team has been sensitizing them on the importance attached to the ITN and SMC,” Mr. Audu stated. He noted that the team carried out a four-day intensive mobilization campaign across all twelve political wards of Gulani starting from October 18, 2025, which led to mass awareness and high participation among community members.
According to him, the integrated malaria prevention approach adopted by the team has greatly enhanced community acceptance and participation. He said the mobilization covered all wards and informed households that the ITN token card serves as evidence for collecting the treated nets during the upcoming distribution.
Mr. Audu revealed that mothers have been notified that the ITN distribution will commence on 7th November 2025, and that the process has been carefully planned to reach every household. “The team will go house-to-house, and mothers will see on the card the location where they will collect their ITNs,” he said, adding that the SMC intervention has also been widely accepted and utilized by households.

He praised the role of religious and traditional leaders in driving the success of the mobilization campaign. “We paid them several courtesy visits to seek their support, and they have been very cooperative. We also engaged village heads and security operatives, all of whom contributed immensely to the smooth conduct of the exercise,” he added.
Mr. Audu also appreciated the support of local drivers who, according to him, rendered free services in conveying mobilization teams to different communities. “Some drivers even help mothers by explaining the importance of sleeping under treated nets when taking them to hospitals for delivery,” he noted.
He further commended the Chairman of Gulani Local Government, Hon. Alhaji Dayyabu Ilu, for his continuous support, especially during the weekly review meetings involving stakeholders, partners, and the LGA technical team.
