The Presidential Committee on the North East Initiative, PCNI, has commended the Taraba state Governor, Mr Darius Dickson Ishaku, over his numerous efforts in uplifting the status of his state and people and pledged its readiness to collaborate with the State Government to improve the livelihoods of its internally displaced persons.
The commendation was made on Monday when the governor and his entourage visited the PCNI head office in Abuja.
The governor, who was welcomed by PCNI’s Chairman, Lt. Gen.T.Y. Danjuma, represented by the Vice Chairman, Alhaji Tijjani Tumsah, commended the committee’s intervention efforts in the North East region, particularly in Taraba State.
He disclosed that the IDPs, who are mainly natives of Borno State, were not keen to return to their home communities because of the peaceful ambiance of Taraba. He, however, called for the provision of essential services and infrastructure, such as permanent housing and means of livelihood so as to ease their absorption and settlement.
