Police confirm explosion at Kebbi hospital, say no casualties recorded

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed an early morning explosion at the General Hospital in Bagudo, Bagudo Local Government Area of the state.

The confirmation was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi by the command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to Usman, security agencies have brought the situation under control following the loud explosion recorded in the early hours of Tuesday, December 30.

“A joint security team comprising the police, military and vigilante operatives has swiftly cordoned off and secured the affected area, while specialist EOD-CBRN teams are currently on ground conducting a thorough assessment,” he said.

The police spokesperson disclosed that no casualties were recorded in the incident. However, a building within the hospital’s staff quarters sustained damage, noting that the occupants had already evacuated the premises safely before the explosion.
