Davido cleared of paternity claims as father releases DNA test Details
Adedeji Adeleke, father of Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has spoken publicly on the long-running paternity controversy involving his son, insisting that DNA evidence had long confirmed that the singer is not the biological father of a girl identified as Anu Adeleke.
Addressing journalists at a press briefing in Lagos on Wednesday, Adeleke said the matter first surfaced in 2014 when he received a letter from a lawyer alleging that Davido had impregnated a woman, Ayo Labinjoh, and abandoned the child.

He explained that following a formal complaint from the child’s maternal grandmother, he personally arranged a DNA test to clarify the issue. According to him, the test was conducted at a hospital in Lekki, Lagos, where saliva samples were taken from Davido and the child and subsequently sent to South Africa for analysis.
Adeleke said the results showed a zero percent probability of paternity, ruling out Davido as the child’s biological father. He added that both the child’s mother and grandmother were present during the procedure and jointly signed to receive the test results.
The billionaire businessman further disclosed that his family later proposed two additional confirmatory DNA tests at reputable medical facilities of the family’s choosing and offered to cover accommodation expenses in Lagos throughout the process. However, he said the offer was declined.

He also dismissed allegations that Davido bribed hospital staff to influence the outcome of the test, describing the claim as baseless.
According to Adeleke, the issue later resurfaced through sustained social media campaigns allegedly driven by controversial social media personality Kemi Olunloyo, who he said took over the narrative surrounding the case.
He revealed that in 2020, another relative of the child approached him to revisit the possibility of further DNA testing. Adeleke said he welcomed the move and again suggested an independent test at a clinic chosen by the family to conclusively resolve the matter.

Davido had recently responded to renewed public calls for a DNA test from the child, maintaining that multiple DNA tests conducted in the past had already settled the issue.
